Full story on WPTV.com The Jewish Community Center’s ‘One Penny…One Soul’ Holocaust Memorial Project received a new home this morning. ‘One Penny…One Soul’ began in the spring of 2004 and strives to help the community comprehend the almost unimaginable scope of the Holocaust by filling six hollow Plexiglas columns with one million pennies each. The first two columns will now stand in the lobby of the school. Two columns are now completely full. This morning, the entire student body at the Meyer Jewish Academy participated in this very unique project by forming a line of students from the JCC campus to the school. This assembly line of more than 350 students moved the pennies from the JCC to the Meyer Jewish Academy. “Our goal is that each and every student, from kindergartners to middle school students, as well as the entire staff, feels that they have a part in helping complete this project and reaching its goal of collecting 6,000,000 pennies,” stated Yaron Kapitulnik, Meyer Jewish Academy Jewish Studies Consultant.
